Gilead Research Scholars Program: Advancing Science Together in HIV
The Gilead Research Scholars Program supports innovative research from emerging investigators around the world to advance scientific knowledge in areas of unmet medical needs and improve the lives of patients everywhere.
This program is designed to support basic and clinical research in the field of HIV.
Gilead awards two years of financial support to early- to mid-career clinician scientists (faculty or lecturer positions) with a strong research track record who are pursuing an academic career at a research institution in one of the eligible countries at the time of application.
Each award is funded up to a total of $130,000 USD, paid in two annual instalments directly to the scholar’s institution.
$29 million awarded
Our scholars have gone on to complete incredibly innovative research with the support of the Research Scholars Program award, much like our 2017 RSP HIV awardees, Jennifer Downs who spent more than a decade researching the connection between schistosomiasis and local HIV infection rates in Mwanza, Tanzania.
